Public wi-fi hotspots are increasingly common. Cafes, fast food chains, airports and even buses and trains offer them as a free service. A recent study conducted by McAfee found that nearly two-thirds of the surveyed Australians used free wi-fi. But just because there's free wi-fi at a trusted establishment, there's no guarantee it's safe to use.
